Simple LIfe
I live what I call the simple life. Some may say it is boring (the world), but I like to think of it as just simplified. I don't have a lot going on in my daily life. We don't travel. In fact I think in the past three years we have left Utah a total of three times. I don't have a job, which I am so grateful for. I don't have any fabulous talent that I can do from home. Except, I guess, for six weeks in the summer when I teach swim lessons and that is pretty cool. I love it and it allows me to really get to know the kids and parents in the neighborhood. I was reflecting on this and I was wondering why I wasn't more disappointed that my life wasn't exciting and eventful. I decided I like it this way. I love having dinner each night with my family. I love that my kids aren't in a ton of activities and that we go support each other as a family when they do. I love that if someone needs my help that I usually don't have to switch much around to help them. I love the quiet moments I get to do what I like during Ella's nap and Elias going to preschool. I love that I live in a fabulous neighborhood where the kids just play. Since the weather has been getting better the kids are at the school playing on their ripsticks (the favorite activity for now). I love that at night we sit around and watch american idol together. I love to organize and so I like to implement that in my own home. I love to exercise, scrapbook, and try new recipes. I'm not a great homemaker, but I love it. I didn't get to this place over night. I struggled, like many, with the grind of young children and the stress that brings. Wanting to get away, for just a little while. I couldn't control the fact that we didn't have the money to go places and experience fun and wonderful things. I struggled with those things and thought that would bring me happiness. I now know that it doesn't and I'm so grateful to be at this place. I know the world would say that I'm not accomplishing much, but I think I am. I am also glad to be surrounded by those that feel the same way I do and that we enjoy the simple things together. Life is good and I have been blessed greatly.

I couldn't agree more. If you step back away from the ideals of the world you can see that we are all doing exactly what we were sent here to do. Raise our families in righteousness, and strive to return to our Heavenly Father. In one big happy piece!! Thank you for the reminder that we are not alone in our crazy little day-to-day lives. We are so blessed to be doing what we are doing!! You're awesome!
Julie, Let me tell you what your fabulous talent that you do from home is. Raising 5 Children (that are all amazing BTW) and making it look easy. (Simple) If you were to write a book-- I would be the first to buy it!
That "Simple Life" can be so elusive. Thank you for this post!
P.S. I want the dough recipe for santa cookies.
Julie- thanks for the post, great words I needed to hear! You are a great example to me! Love you lots!
Well said. Inspiring. I feel the same way as you do. I love that I don't have to rearrange my schedule too much when someone needs my help or service. Just don't tell all my friends and family that or they'll keep calling me. ;) Great job Julie.
Julie, I so needed to read that tonight. I too, feel like I am in my house all day everyday with three kids running around all the time. What a great perspective to have on life. It just shows that money is not important in life. When it all boils down to it your family is what matters and spending time with them. I admire you so much for the work you put into raising those 5 young children. I can already see the amazing results in them. Mckenna is such a great girl. THanks again!!
P.S. I think I will get out and head up to Macey's this week..LOL I may see you there.
Julie, you are an amazing person, homemaker, and mom! You have great talents and are such a sweetheart! You could possibly be one of the nicest people I know. You are very genuine and darling! You have a BEAUTIFUL family and are a great example to those of us around you!
WOW, I haven't checked your blog in a while and you have been quite busy blogging! And what do you mean that you have no talents at home?!!! You do a great job taking care of 5 children! That is a talent in itself! I'm still trying to figure out how you keep them so quite in sacrament meeting.
I am so impressed with your attitude, Julie. Someday you will find that your "hobby" or talent was your kids and that you created something not only beautiful but also responsible, motivational, and your reward will be more than the temporary reward we get from the worldly stuff. Thanks for that great example.
You have so many talents, I don't even know where to start. But, that is what I love about you. Life is rarely about you. You dont notice how much you do for other people, and the example you are! Thank you for the neat perspective. I need to stop and enjoy! Love you!
Well said! I love you sis!
